Professional Xcode 3 Wrox Programmer to Programmer 1st first edition Text Only James Bucanek Books
I hesitated a bit before buying this because a later version of XCode is out and because I wasn't sure how much I would need the material in this book. Thankfully, I went ahead and purchased the book despite these concerns. I'm just a bit past page 100 and I can see that the book will more than pay for itself just in increased productivity. Much of the info/shortcuts/tips weren't covered in other materials I've used, yet they will be quite helpful. Although there will be differences between the older and newer XCode, I don't really think it will affect a significant amount of this material (at least so far). Even if it did, I wouldn't regret getting this book because I'm sure I will be able to figure out the (probably slight) changes between the different versions. Really, just knowing some of the features/shortcuts are there is worth the price of the book. If you have months to explore XCode on a full time basis, you might pick up various parts of this material (no where near all of it, I'm sure) on your own, but this book is like your own (efficient!) guided tour which provides clear explanations, a lasting reference, and even some ideas for how to use features you may not have known existed. Like I said, I'm barely past page 100, yet I can already say this book is well worth the money I paid & the time I have/will invest reading it. I highly recommend this book.Product details

Professional Xcode 3 Wrox Programmer to Programmer 1st first edition Text Only James Bucanek Books Reviews
I have Xcode 3 installed on my computer, and I bought this book in order to become productive as quickly as possible. I wanted a real crash orientation, and I wanted a good, concise reference that would remove roadblocks as they arise. I gave the book a decent chance. It was just not organized in a way that afforded me the quick introduction I wanted. I got another book instead, namely "Cocoa Programming for MAC OS X" by Aaron Hillegass. That has proven sufficient to get me a good start. If I had gotten that book first, I would have been less likely to buy this one at all. Since I have it, I refer to it a little bit for details. It is interesting, but I haven't found that it has yet given me anything I really needed to get on with my tasks. For me, it is nice to have and something I "ought" to read for more detailed knowledge. It is an "ought" to read, not a "have" to read and certainly not a "can't wait" to read. Still, it has a lot of useful information and other people (those who don't feel the urge to code a project NOW---THIS INSTANT), I think it will be very useful. In this area, I am not a patient person, and I am not overjoyed to have purchased this book.
I haven't read the complete book yet, but the information appears well and it is written in an understandable manner.
book delivered on time and as describled
I am over halfway through this book and my XCode productivity has doubled, if not tripled. I am KICKING myself, literally beating myself up, for not reading this earlier. The hours I would have saved.... To be clear, this is not a book on how to program, and does not pretend to be. It details how to get around XCode and use it to work faster and more efficiently. You SHOULD already be familiar with a coding language like Cocoa or C++, since this is what XCode deals with.
